Embracing neurodiversity
Fostering friendships
Celebrating unique personalities
Accommodating various learning styles
Neurodiversity is a term used to describe differences in the way people's brains work. The Accord School specializes in teaching neurodiverse middle school students in a way that makes them feel noticed, understood, and appreciated for who they are.
BC High has launched a service opportunity to partner with The Accord School in their efforts. Specifically, BC High students:
Volunteer to mentor Accord School students in STEM and recreational activities at their campus in Norwell
Serve as hosts during “Eagle for a Day” visits to encourage Accord School middle school students to consider applying to BC High
Our sole purpose is to meet Accord School students “where they are” with social learning challenges. Our biggest goal is to have fun!
Make a difference
Sign up and spend 1-2 afternoons per week visiting The Accord School and its spirited students. A typical afternoon can entail anything from constructing and launching bottle rockets to cutthroat games of dodgeball!
Facilitate STEM activities
AI powered robotics
Home Run Derby car races
Toothpick & Marshmallow tower building contests
Constructing & launching air pressure bottle rockets
The “classic” egg drop competition
Open to additional suggestions!
Organize recreational activities
Nerf battles
Dodgeball
Capture the flag
Foosball tournaments
Additional ideas welcome!
